Inspiration of the week: Wayne Thiebaud
I came across him when looking for art inspiration for my next project!! At first I thought I was looking at a photograph of baked goods. I was amazed by the realistic nature of his painting technique. It’s a bit inspiring — one to challenge myself to create an actual cake, with such simpllistic elegance; or two create a masterpiece of realistic impressionism of my own..
In a contemporary art world enthralled with such stunts as Damien Hirst’s diamond-encrusted skull, Thiebaud is wonderfully ungimmicky. He belongs more to a classical tradition of painting than to the Pop revolution that first propelled him to national attention in the 1960s, an era that will forever live in my heart.
Brilliant!!

I wasted my day making this mockup of what the iPhone 5 might look like with a taller 960 x 1152 screen and a new design.

The buttons, dock connector, etc. are missing not because I think it will happen, but because my SketchUp skills are not that advanced. ;)

This excites me greatly. A device that stays the same size, but gets a slightly larger screen for one more row of apps.

Not sure how I would feel about a more “pebble” look, especially since I still really love the iPhone 4/4S industrial design, but I’m sure it would feel nice in your hand. Taking pictures in landscape mode might be a bit slippery though. Fun to think about.

Amazing!!

I find it so amazing that although Israel rejected Jesus and the Roman authorities crucified Him, creation always recognized Him! During His life on this earth, the waves obeyed Him; water turned to wine at His command; fishes and bread multiplied at His touch; the atoms in water solidified so He could walk across it; and the wind ceased when He spoke to it. So it should come as no surprise that Jesus’ death was a traumatic event for creation. The earth shook, trembled, and shuddered at the death of its Creator, for it instantly felt its loss.

The earth shuddered so violently when Jesus died that even “…the rocks rent.…” This was a serious earthquake! It makes me realize all over again the incredible significance of the death of Jesus Christ!

When Jesus’ blood was accepted at the Cross as final payment for man’s sin, the need to habitually offer sacrifices year after year was eliminated. The Holy of Holies, a place limited only to the high priest once a year, has now become open and accessible to all of us! As “believer-priests,” each of us can now enjoy the Presence of God every day.

We need to take a few minutes each day to enter into the Presence of God to worship Him and to make our requests known. Let’s drop everything we’re doing and come boldly before the throne of grace for a few minutes today and every day!

I believe for us to understand that the Holy Siprit empowers us and lives in us is an awesome truth upon which to act.

“We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us His Spirit.”
1 John 4:13

When you and I get to our wit’s end, we will find that God lives there.
